Nick is a qualitative social scientist with research interests in environmental governance, co-production of knowledge, and more-than-human geographies. He earned his PhD in Earth Sciences from Montana State University in 2020 and his MA in Geography from Portland State University in 2013. As a critical human-environment geographer, Nick's research operates in both historical and contemporary contexts and analyzes sociocultural representations of environmental conflict and change. His dissertation critically examined a set of perceptions, discourses, and policies related to environmental management of the Yellowstone River Basin. Nick is currently helping to develop and implement the social science components of several interdisciplinary projects across the Pacific Northwest including: 1) The Community Herbicide Resistance Management Initiative; 2) A Weed Seed Contamination Assurance Program for Washington State; and 3) The Cumulative Effects of Ecological and Social Stressors on Integrated Ranching-Wildlife Systems.
