Summary This project will focus on 1. Increased monitoring of mercury and access to mercury levels data in the Columbia River Basin and 2. Evaluating risk perception trends towards mercury and promoting citizen science engagement. The specific aim of this project is to facilitate community engagement while encouraging citizens to become involved in a monitoring program. Citizen scientists will be capturing crayfish along the Columbia River Basin in order to evaluate geospatial and temporal trends of mercury contamination. The goal is to use these invertebrates to engage with the communities regarding a serious environmental health concern.
