Summary
Cover crops, planted during the fallow period or in place of a cash crop, have recently been promoted nationally to reduce erosion and runoff, improve soil quality and increase on-farm resilience. Despite support from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), there is limited adoption of this practice across the U.S. Although recent research efforts in the inland Pacific Northwest (iPNW) have focused on increased diversity and adoption of no-till, research on cover crops is lacking for the region. |
